(Source: QinetiQ) - Lithium-Ion battery technology shows significant promise for hybrid and electric vehicle applications in terms of its comparatively high power and energy density, and ability to retain charge for extended periods.

However, commercial challenges remain in terms of both cost and weight. QinetiQ and Ricardo have embarked on a two-year collaborative project part-funded by the UK Department for Transport, which aims to dramatically reduce the costs of Lithium-Ion batteries for hybrid vehicles while protecting or further improving vehicle performance.

(Source: Quantum Technologies) Irvine, Calif. - Quantum announced that it has shipped eleven hydrogen-fueled Prius hybrid vehicles to Miljobil Grenland AS, a participant and vehicle provider to the Norwegian Hydrogen Highway (HyNor).

The Norwegian government, industry participants, and the organizations participating in a joint effort called HyNor plan on creating a "Hydrogen Highway" between the capital, Oslo, and western Norway's port of Stavanger.
