General Motors geht in die Offensive und bringt mit dem Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid als erster US-Hersteller am Heimatmarkt eine Hybrid-Limousine an den Verkaufsstart. Der Verkaufsstart soll im nächsten Monat beginnen und der Saturn Aura soll mit 22.695 US-Dollar das günstigste Hybrid-Auto am US-Markt sein. Die Hybrid-Version des Aura zielt vor allem auf Toyotas Trendsetter Prius.

Hier vergleicht man wieder Äpfel mit Birnen: Der Aura stellt im Gegensatz zum Prius ein Mild-Hybrid dar und durch die deutlich höhere Motorisierung beim Verbrennungsmotor, werden bei weitem nicht die niedrigen Verbrauchswerte des Prius erreicht. Es bleibt abzuwarten, wie sich die Verkaufszahlen im Vergleich zum Prius am US-Markt entwickeln werden.
