(Source: Chrysler/GEM) Global Electric Motorcars (GEM), a Chrysler company, has been awarded the 2007 Charles R. Imbrecht Blue Sky Merit Award™from California-based WestStart-CALSTART, for its “strong and enduring commitment to advanced transportation technology” including bringing neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs) to California in 1998 “when others were not even considering” environmentally-friendly technologies.
As the leading manufacturer of NEVs, there are nearly 14,000 GEM vehicles on the road in California, and that number is increasing at the rate of nearly 100 GEM vehicles per month.
