(Quelle: industrie.gouv.fr) Die französische Post wird ihre Fahrzeugflotte durch eine europäische Ausschreibung im Jahr 2008 mit 500 Elektro-Lieferfahrzeugen ausstatten. Mit dieser Ausschreibung setzt die französische Post ein sichtbares Signal und sehr starken Impuls in Richtung Umweltschutz. Die Ausführung der Fahrzeuge entspricht beispielsweise denen von Cleanova, einen auf Elektroantrieb umgerüsteten Renault Kangoo mit Lithium-Ionen-Batterie (früherer Bericht).

Die Post verfolgt so ernsthaft ihren Plan zur Reduzierung der CO2-Emissionen. Mit dieser Initiative sollen die Konstrukteure und Fahrzeughersteller angespornt werden, sich zu diesem Thema zu mobilisieren. Die Ausschreibung könne aber eine reine Alibiaktion sein, vermutlich wurde als Lieferant inoffiziell bereits Cleanova ausgewählt. Da hier schon Fahrzeuge getestet wurden und das Geld im eigenen Land bleiben würde.

They must design, build, and compete an open-wheel, single-seat racecar. This car must conform to a formula which emphasizes drive train innovation and fuel efficiency in a high-performance application.

Formula Hybrid builds on the Formula SAE program and takes it to the next level. It adds a new layer of complexity and provides an additional technical challenge to student teams. We expect that one path of entry to the Formula Hybrid competition will be to construct the vehicle and develop the chassis and related systems in the Formula SAE program.

Speaking to reporters at the New York International Auto Show, Kuzak said the automaker is working on advanced battery technology for the vehicle. "The battery technology is one of the biggest challenges," Kuzak said.
