(Source: Business Wire) Rosemead, CA - On Monday, 9 July, the senior executives of Ford Motor Company and Southern California Edison (SCE) will announce a joint electric transportation initiative designed to explore ways to advance plug-in hybrid technology for the U.S. market.

This will be the first time a major automaker and a large electricity utility have combined resources to study ways to make plug-in hybrid technology more accessible for all customers.

Das ganze Jahr über würde eine andere Idee funktionieren, die aus den USA stammt: Dort wollen Forscher das Stromnetz mithilfe der wachsenden Zahl an Hybridautos stabilisieren - genauer gesagt mit deren Bordakkus. Hybridautobesitzer sollen ihre Fahrzeuge am Abend ans Netz anschließen und so "den Akku dem Netzbetreiber zur Verfügung stellen", sagt Jim McDowall von der Electricity Storage Association (ESA).

Die Zusammenhänge bei dem Biokraftstoff-Boom zu erkennen, ist nicht immer einfach. Jedoch sollte der aussagekräftige Vergleich mit der solaren Elektromobilität zum Umdenken verhelfen. Auch die EU macht ohne Skrupel bei diesem Biokraftstoff-Boom mit und will bis 2020 den Anteil noch erheblich steigern. Die Konsequenzen für die großen (armen) Agrarstaaten werden dabei wohl von den reichen Staaten zur Beruhigung ihres "grünen" Gewissens verdrängt.

34. Ford baut recyclinggerechte Fahrzeuge

(Quelle: Ford) Köln - Das Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) hat der Ford-Werke GmbH bescheinigt, bereits jetzt schon - und damit ein Jahr früher als gesetzlich notwendig - den Nachweis über die Entwicklung verwertungsgerechter Fahrzeuge erbracht zu haben. Das KBA bestätigte Ford, den Vorprüfungsbedingungen zur neuen EU-Richtlinie 2005/64/EG zu entsprechen.

Ford hatte dem KBA zuvor nachgewiesen, dass seine Fahrzeuge recyclinggerecht konstruiert und die entsprechenden Verfahren und Prozesse im Entwicklungsprozess der Fahrzeuge verbindlich integriert sind. Das KBA bestätigte in diesem Zusammenhang außerdem, dass Ford der Behörde eine ausführliche und vorschriftenkonforme Beschreibung seiner Recyclingstrategie für Altfahrzeuge vorgelegt hat. Ford ist weltweit erst der zweite Hersteller, der diese KBA-Bescheinigung erhält.

(Source: Azure Dynamics) Toronto - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. today announced it has signed agreements with Azure Dynamics Corporation a leading developer of hybrid-electric and electric powertrains for commercial vehicles, to develop gasoline parallel hybrid-electric powertrains for their delivery fleet.

Under terms of the agreements, Azure will supply a parallel hybrid-electric test vehicle to FedEx Express for the Ford E-450 hybrid commercial delivery van development program. Once the development phase is completed, FedEx Express has committed to purchase a minimum of 20 pre-production parallel hybrid-electric Ford E-450 delivery vans to be delivered by May 2008.
