fisker-karma-s-concept_announcementIn addition to the production version of the Karma, a luxury plug-in hybrid, Fisker Automotive will also be taking the wraps off a new concept during the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

The Fisker Karma S will be powered by the Karma’s Q-Drive powertrain, developed in cooperation with Quantum Technologies exclusively for Fisker. Q-Drive offers a 50 mile range on a single charge to its Lithium-Ion battery pack, and up to 408hp from two electric motors.

fisker_karma Fisker Automotive and Quantum Technologies announced they are performing initial vehicle testing and fine tuning the battery software management system for the Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid production car. These initial test track developments are taking place in Southern California.

Three Fisker Karma prototypes have been built, and are currently undergoing testing for the electric powertrain developed by Quantum Technologies. Concurrently, the Fisker engineering team is working on crash test simulation. Further validation and certification on the vehicles will be performed over the coming months.

tesla_roadster_Side_Crash_Test Tesla Motors has received all regulatory approvals to import the first production Tesla Roadster (“P1”) for sale. This includes all necessary EPA and DOT approvals, including completion of all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS.).

P1 will arrive at Tesla Motors headquarters this week for delivery to customer Elon Musk, Chairman of Tesla Motors. Series production of the Tesla Roadster is scheduled to begin March 17th, 2008.

smart_ed_first_fully_electric The car is the first of 100 cars to be delivered as part of a UK-based market trial for the introduction of a fully electric version of the two-seater (smart ed).

The car will be made available on a lease arrangement to selected UK corporate customers. It has 30kW output and a top speed of 60 mph. It offers nippy in-town performance with 0-30 mph in 6.5 seconds. With a range of up to 70 miles, the smart ed is exempt from vehicle excise duty and congestion charge.

fisker_plug-in_hybrid_sports_sedan (Source: Fisker)Irvine, Calif. - Quantum Technologies, a publicly traded company and Fisker Coachbuild, LLC disclose continuing developments of the first production vehicle to come from Fisker Automotive, Inc. - the green American premium car company. The four-door plug-in hybrid premium sports sedan will make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January with a starting price of $80,000.

Initial deliveries will commence in the 4th quarter of 2009 with annual production projected to reach 15,000 cars. Each Fisker vehicle will feature an all-new from the ground up platform. Certification, testing and drive train development will be conducted by joint venture partner Quantum Technologies.

fiat-logo_ar-fiat(Source: Nuvera) Mantova, Italy - Centro Ricerche Fiat (CRF) presented three Nuvera Fuel Cell-powered Panda cars to the municipality of Mantova today as part of the Zero Regio project. Zero Regio is an integrated project aimed at developing and demonstrating zero emission road transport systems in normal daily use in Mantova, Italy, and Frankfurt, Germany.

The three hydrogen Pandas were presented alongside an ENI multi-fuel refilling station, offering pressurized hydrogen at 350 bar. Following today’s event, the vehicles will serve the city of Mantova in a number of different civic applications.

(Source: Business Wire) Rosemead, CA - On Monday, 9 July, the senior executives of Ford Motor Company and Southern California Edison (SCE) will announce a joint electric transportation initiative designed to explore ways to advance plug-in hybrid technology for the U.S. market.

This will be the first time a major automaker and a large electricity utility have combined resources to study ways to make plug-in hybrid technology more accessible for all customers.
