12. Axeon to Supply 1000 Lithium-Ion Battery Packs to Allied Vehicles

Axeon Holdings, Europe’s largest independent lithium-ion battery system supplier, is pleased to announce a major agreement worth a minimum of £17.3 million from Allied Vehicles Ltd. Axeon has agreed a contract to supply a minimum of 1000 lithium-ion battery packs to Glasgow based Allied Vehicles, to power a range of zero-emission vehicles.

Allied are building on their strong relationship with Peugeot to provide a 3.5 tonne rated delivery vehicle based on the Peugeot Boxer, while the Peugeot Expert body shell provides options for a 3 tonne rated delivery vehicle, 8 seat minibus, and a taxi. Allied are also developing an all electric 16 seat low floor city bus.

13. Audi und Sanyo planen Allianz bei Batterien für Hybrid- und Elektroautos

Audi und Sanyo wollen bei der Entwicklung von Batterien für Hybrid- und Elektrofahrzeuge zusammenarbeiten. Dies meldet die „Süddeutsche Zeitung“. Die Kooperation des deutschen Autoherstellers mit dem japanischen Elektrokonzern dient der Entwicklung von Hochleistungsbatterien und hat ein Volumen von fast einer Milliarde Euro.

Von dem Projekt könnten später auch andere Marken des Volkswagen-Konzerns profitieren. Audi arbeitet derzeit an einem Q7 3.6 FSI mit Hybridantrieb, der noch in diesem Jahr auf den Markt kommen soll.

14. Audi setzt auf den Elektroantrieb

Der Ingolstädter Hersteller Audi will innerhalb der nächsten 10 Jahre Elektroautos auf den Markt bringen. "Langfristig - das dauert fünf bis zehn Jahre - wird sich der Elektroantrieb durchsetzen. Dann werden wir Fahrzeuge ohne jede Abgase anbieten", sagte Audi-Chef Rupert Stadler der "Welt am Sonntag".

Der Autobauer sieht in der Entwicklung des Elektrofahrzeuges große Chancen und sei längst auf diesen Trend aufgesprungen. Bei der Entwicklung sieht Stadler gegenüber Mitbewerbern wie Mercedes oder BMW keinen Rückstand. "Unsere Forschungskapazität innerhalb des Konzerns ist größer als bei vielen Wettbewerbern", sagte er.

15. Arcimoto EV "BugE" Prototype Design

Arcimoto BugE is a three-wheeled electric vehicle classified as a motorcycle. Adding motorcycle wheels with disc brakes, a larger battery pack for a 50 mile range, detachable motorcycle saddlebags and trunk, roll bar with canopy latch, full-suspension, a steering wheel and foot controls.

The vehicle ist modeled after the BugE and has a top speed of up to 50 mph. Charged by simply plugging into any wall outlet. At a cost of approximately 1 US-Cent per mile.

16. Argonne's Lithium-Ion Cathode Technology to Be Commercialized by Toda Kogyo

The U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory and Toda Kogyo Corp. of Japan have reached a world-wide licensing agreement for the commercial production and sales of Argonne's patented composite cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries, which result in longer-lasting, safer batteries for hybrid-electric vehicles, cell phones, laptop computers and other applications.

"Our agreement with Toda Kogyo is an important step toward bringing to market key advanced lithium-ion battery technologies that are being developed here at Argonne with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy," Gary Henriksen, Manager of the Electrochemical Energy Storage Department at Argonne, said. "The technologies being licensed will enhance the performance, life and inherent safety of lithium-ion cells compared to those that employ the cobalt-based cathode technology that has dominated the market since the introduction of lithium-ion batteries in 1990."

17. Angeleno Group Leads $15 Million Investment in Miles Electric Vehicles

Miles Electric Vehicles announced a $15,000,000 investment round led by the Los Angeles based private equity fund, Angeleno Group, with participation from existing investors.

Funds will be used to advance the development of the all electric MILES XS500 highway speed sedan, which is powered by an advanced technology lithium-ion powertrain, and to expand its leadership in the low speed electric vehicle market.

18. Altairnano Signs $2.5 Million Contract for Development of Nano-Lithium Titanate Battery Technology

Altair Nanotechnologies announced the signing of a $2.5 million contract with the United States Navy for the development of battery backup power systems in Naval applications.

Under the terms of the contract, Altair will develop an optimized battery cell employing its nano-sized lithium titanate (n-LTO) electrode materials and then demonstrate the performance and safety attributes of the cell.

Die derzeit serienmäßig angebotenen alternativen Antriebe haben durch die Bank noch ihre Tücken. Dies ist das Ergebnis eines sechsmonatigen ADAC-Dauertests. Fazit: Wer beim Autofahren ausschließlich auf den CO2-Ausstoß schaut, kommt derzeit am Vollhybridantrieb nicht vorbei.

Unter Kostenaspekten ist Erdgas am günstigsten. Generell müssen je nach Konzept aber auch beträchtliche Einschränkungen in Komfort, Leistung und Reichweite in Kauf genommen werden.
